JACOB BURNS FILM CENTER PARTNERS WITH THE MOUNT PLEASANT PUBLIC LIBRARY TO CREATE A PERMANENT DVD COLLECTION Over 200 DVDs will be available to Westchester Library System Members Pleasantville, NY - December 9, 2009 - The Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC) has partnered with the Mount Pleasant Public Library to create a permanent movie collection. A special section of the library has been designated to house the Jacob Burns Film Center Curated Collection, a unique collection of carefully selected high-quality titles. The collection will be added to on a regular basis on recommendation from the JBFC's programming department. "We are very pleased to have partnered with the Mount Pleasant Public Library to create this collection. It was culled from the vast number of films shown at the JBFC over the past eight years as well as many other important and outstanding films. Both narratives and documentaries from all over the world, and family films, make up this collection," said Brian Ackerman, JBFC Programming Director. "We are delighted to be able to partner with the Jacob Burns Film Center in order to offer library patrons this outstanding new service," said Library Director John Fearon. "We believe this collection will be a valued addition to our wide range of services." The Library has purchased approximately 200 DVDs to start the collection. All library card holders in the county are welcome to visit the library to enjoy the collection. A detailed listing of all titles in the collection can be found here The Mount Pleasant Public Library serves a community of 33,000 in the Town of Mount Pleasant and Village of Pleasantville. The Library's lending collection includes books, audiobooks, DVDs, CDs and periodicals. Services include storytimes for children, lectures and author series for adults, and PCs and wireless internet access for the public. The Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC) is a nonprofit cultural arts organization dedicated to: presenting the best of independent, documentary, and world cinema; promoting 21st century literacy, and making film a vibrant part of the community. Since the opening in 2001, over 1,000,000 people have seen over 3,000 films from more than 40 countries at the JBFC's three-screen theater. The campus includes the 27,000 sq. ft.
