Throughout history, the most physical and financial harm from epidemic outbreaks falls upon the least privileged and most marginalized populations of society. Pleasantville resident Troy Tassier, author of The Rich Flee and the Poor Take the Bus: How Our Unequal Society Fails Us during Outbreaks, takes us on a tour of five historic epidemics:
- The Bubonic plague in 1625
- The 1793 yellow fever outbreak
- The Cholera epidemic in 1832
- The 19th century yellow fever outbreaks
- Covid-19
A Q&A will follow Tassier's presentation. Books will be available for sale and refreshments will be served.

The four sessions will touch on different aspects that impact us, e.g., relationships, work, life, and most importantly, being ourselves. It isn't always easy to be ourselves, and yet it is everything we know. We will work with various scenarios of moving through loss, change, and uncertainty.
