Interfaith Food Pantry
What we do
The Interfaith Emergency Food Pantry of Pleasantville is affiliated with faith-based congregations in the community. It has been in operation since the mid-1980’s and began as a place where neighbors could help their neighbors in need. This tradition continues today.
Every two weeks, our pantry provides non-perishables and shelf stable foods, such as pasta, rice, beans, canned fruits and vegetables, soup, cereal, milk, and juice. We also provide frozen meat every distribution. Fresh, seasonal, locally-grown produce is provided 1-2x month. Whenever possible, we supply dairy foods. We offer healthy options such as whole grains, low sodium, and low sugar items.
For holidays, we pride ourselves on providing all the fixings for a complete meal. We offer meats such as turkey, chicken, and ham. Accompanying sides such as mashed potatoes, stuffing, yams, cranberry sauce, and gravy are supplied. Baking goods, holiday treats, and specialty foods are distributed as well.
We are a ‘choice’ pantry, meaning that clients choose their items from our food shelves. Note: During Covid-19, we will be pre-bagging.
Food drives provide an opportunity for houses of worship, schools, corporations, athletic clubs, and other organizations to get involved in fighting hunger in our own community.
Twice a month, the Emergency Interfaith Food Pantry of Pleasantville opens its doors to our neighbors in need. Volunteers help set up the shopping shelves and tables, assist clients with food selection, and restock the Pantry shelves at closing. The Pantry is open for distribution on alternate Thursdays from 1:00PM - 3:15PM.
