September 11, 2001: The Day that Changed the World

Exhibit runs: September 8 - 22

In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, we will be hosting a poster exhibit in our Community Room downstairs at the Main Library in Pleasantville. This educational exhibition recounts the events of September 11, 2001, through the personal stories of those who witnessed and survived the attacks. Told across 14 posters, this exhibition includes archival photographs and images of artifacts from the 911 Memorial & Museum’s permanent collection.  The exhibit is brought to you by the 911 Memorial & Museum.

On Saturday, September 11 we will be showing short films on our projection screen, and you can share your memories of the day in our Memory Book.

9/11 Day of Service
Saturday, September 11
10:00 AM - 4:30 PM
In 2002, this day was created to honor the memories of those lost on 9/11 and to rekindle a spirit of togetherness, volunteerism, and compassion as a symbol of American resilience ( To honor this day we will be collecting non-perishable food items downstairs in the Community Room of the Main Library in Pleasantville. These items will then be distributed to local food pantries. We will also be collecting letters to seniors, which we will then distribute to local senior centers and organizations. There will be a "mailbox" downstairs in the Community Room to drop off cards/letters.
We will be collecting through the end of the exhibit, September 22.
