In my opinion, this is a great and underappreciated work of King. Despite it not being as gruesome or horrifying as his other works, this book does have a certain element of thrill and emotion that others lack. As the book continues, and it is revealed that something about Carrie just isn't right, the reader is constantly met with feelings of suspense and anticipation, as King draws out key events and details just how pitiful Carrie’s life is.

This novel would be best enjoyed by those who commonly read thrillers and books pertaining to elements of paranormal activity. It is a very emotional read, and is littered with symbolic references and biblical allusions. This is considered an adult book.
